Shots fired leads to drug bust in New Iberia

Shots fired in New Iberia leads to the arrest of three people after deputies discovered narcotics and weapons at their residence.

On Friday afternoon, Iberia Parish Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 3100 block of Kevin Dr. after they received a complaint of firearms being discharged.

Deputies were able to locate the home where the activity took place and called in agents with the Special Investigation Unit.

Agents obtained a search warrant and recovered 1.8 pounds of marijuana, 49 Xanax tablets, $2890 in cash, one semi-automatic rifle, two Glock handguns, along with hundreds of rounds of ammunition from the residence.

A spokesman with the sheriff’s office says one of the handguns had been reported as stolen.

Twenty-four-year-old Milton Alexander was charged with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, possession with the intent to distribute Schedule IV narcotics, monies derived from illegal narcotics sales, possession of a firearm with controlled dangerous substances, possession of a stolen firearm, resisting arrest.

Nineteen-year-old Mekhi Gregoire was charged with possession with the intent to distribute marijuana.

Jerone Archangel was charged with possession of a firearm with controlled dangerous substances.

All three were booked into the Iberia Parish jail.
