Racine County K-9 unit finds bags of marijuana during traffic stop

A 25-year-old Chicago man is charged after a Racine County K9 unit found raw marijuana in his vehicle Tuesday night, January 23rd.

At around 8:30 p.m. a Racine County K9 unit pulled over a vehicle for a lane deviation and following too closely on I-94 northbound at Highway 20. As the deputy made contact with the vehicle, they could smell the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.

Officials say upon the search of the vehicle, the deputy found two large bags of marijuana being concealed in the vehicle wrapped up in a bed quilt that was in a clear zippered bag.

The bags were found to contain a little more than two pounds of raw marijuana combined. The driver, 25-year-old Christian Olvera, admitted he was taking the marijuana to Milwaukee and that he paid $5500 for it all.

Olvera is charged with a felony charge of Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to deliver.
