A 38-year-old man on felony probation was arrested earlier this week with a cache of marijuana — stored at a family member’s house, police said.
LaTodd Weems of Griffin was arrested Monday by Spalding County deputies and SWAT officials, the sheriff’s office said.
He was charged with trafficking marijuana, possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, possession of marijuana and possession of drug related objects.
Deputies arrested Weems at a relative’s house, where they found 14 pounds of marijuana, digital scales and packing materials.
He had 10 years of felony probation remaining for a prior conviction when officials booked him into the Spalding County Jail, the sheriff’s office said.
Sheriff Darrell Dix said the warrant and subsequent arrest are part of an ongoing effort to target drug dealers in the neighborhood.
“With Weems’s arrest, a major supplier of marijuana has been taken off the streets,” Dix said.
