A 21-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested Friday after being found in possession of more than 50 grams of marijuana at Highway 11 and Southwood Drive.
According to the criminal complaint:
Montanez Miller, of the 3300 block of North 20th Street, was a backseat passenger in the vehicle pulled over for “excessively loud exhaust.” Miller had a warrant out for his arrest by the Department of Corrections at the time. As a result, his vehicle was searched.
In the back seat where Miller was sitting, officers reported recovering 52.3 grams of marijuana, along with $468 in cash and a black digital scale.
According to investigators, the drugs tested positive for the presence of THC, the key substance in marijuana. The front passenger stated he usually doesn’t buy marijuana from Miller, but has known Miller for a long time and knows that he sells it.
Based on the circumstances, officers concluded that Miller was holding drugs with the intent to distribute them.
Miller made an initial court appearance Monday and a cash bond was set at $200, online records show. He remained in custody as of Monday night at the County Jail. Miller’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 20. It is a condition of his bond that Miller not consume or possess any controlled substances.
Miller was found guilty of felony theft in Racine County in 2013, but has not been convicted of a crime until his most recent offense.
