A man suspected of trafficking 226 pounds of marijuana is now in the Canyon County Jail following a routine traffic stop Wednesday, the Idaho State Police announced in a press release.
Dakota D. Thorstenson, 23, of Duluth, Minnesota was driving eastbound on Interstate 84, near Caldwell.
Thorstenson’s arrest and booking on drug trafficking charges was aided by the Caldwell Police Department, who assisted in an investigation.
The press release noted marijuana trafficking is a “major focus of concern” for the ISP. State troopers apparently seized over 1,400 pounds of marijuana last year, more than the total seized in the last three years combined, according to Timothy Marsano, ISP’s public information officer.
