MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) – A package was found at a Mobile FedEx Ground had marijuana packed inside.
According to the Mobile Police Department, officers were called to a FedEx Ground located at 6752 Trippel Road Wednesday morning when a package found smelled of marijuana.
Police say when they took possession of the package, it weighed 75 pounds.
The package was turned over to narcotics detectives, police say.
The FedEx website updated for this year shows marijuana is on the list of prohibited items.
The website says that includes marijuana for recreational or medicinal use, or any product containing THC.
FedEx isn’t the only shipping company seeing marijuana.
The United States Postal Service says in the 2015 fiscal year, the Postal Inspection Service seized about 34,000 pounds of marijuana from the mailstream.
According to MPD, there are no suspects at this time.
The investigation is currently ongoing.
