Over the weekend, Border Patrol Agents seized over 1,000 pounds of marijuana in Starr County.
On Saturday, Dec. 29, agents seized 142 pounds of marijuana and detained three subjects close to Rio Grande City. Those arrested have been identified as Luis Ángel Diaz, Carlos Moises Esquivel, and Gerardo Perez-Lopez, citizens of México and the US. All three subjects were arrested for possession of marijuana, a second-degree felony.
On Sunday, Dec. 30, agents arrested Jose Juan Reyes, of Escobares, near Salineno. Reyes was arrested after agents seized 1,125 pounds of marijuana. Also seized was a 2003 black Chevy Suburban.
The Starr County HIDTA Task Force has taken over the investigations of both cases.
