Police on Friday discovered 38 large marijuana plants growing at a Peyton home.
The search warrant was conducted by detectives from the Metro Vice, Narcotics and Intelligence Division (MVNI) in conjunction with the deputies from the El Paso County Sheriff’s Department Rural Enforcement and Outreach unit, as well as members of their SWAT team at a home near Slocum and Jones Roads in unincorporated El Paso County.
During a search of the home, investigators discovered an outbuilding that was converted into a fully functional marijuana grow operation.
In addition to the 38 large marijuana plants, authorities seized over 20 pounds of refined marijuana that was packaged for distribution. Two rifles and $4,000 was also recovered.
According to CSPD, MVNI has received eight Crime Stoppers tips over the last year on tenants growing marijuana at this home.
Right now, MVNI has more than 600 active marijuana tips throughout the cities of Colorado Springs and Fountain as well as El Paso and Teller Countie
