Bloomington Police recovered over 2,500 ecstasy pills and $1,500 in cash inside a residence on South Main Street late last week.
The pills (nearly a pound and a half of the drug known as MDMA) were found after a search warrant was executed by the Bloomington SWAT team in the 100 block of South Main Street on Thursday, police said.
Arrested at the residence was Jason Greene, 40, of Bloomington. A second suspect, Parish Mayberry, 39, of Bloomington, was arrested near Oakland Avenue and Clinton Street, police said. Greene and Mayberry were each charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver (400 to 900 grams), a Class X felony, prosecutors said.
Greene is being held on $200,000 bond. Mayberry’s bond is set at $250,000.
BPD’s Vice Unit, Street Crimes Unit and Special Weapons and Tactics Team all worked the case.
MDMA was initially popular in the nightclub scene and at all-night dance parties, but the drug now affects a broader range of people who more commonly call the drug Ecstasy or Molly, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse.
